Next week is Fun at Work Day, which is celebrated every year on January 28th. It’s not to be confused with International Fun at Work Day, celebrated on April 1st. Think of January’s Fun at Work Day as the pre-funk party for April’s celebration.
Do you need an excuse to have fun at work? Not really, but events like this are a great opportunity to engage employees and increase camaraderie, which are good things that foster more loyalty, productivity, profits. With that in mind, here are four easy ways to celebrate Fun at Work Day:
- Hold a raffle – Always an engaging group activity, holding a day-long raffle for a fun prize is a great way to put a smile on everyone’s faces.
- Hire a food cart – It may not be possible everywhere, hiring a local favorite food or confection cart to hang around during break time is always a great way to celebrate.
- Gift bags – Put together a bag of novelty gifts, games, and/or prizes just for fun to give to your team. They don’t have to be complicated or pricy to be engaging.
- Cupcakes & cookies – Want to do something quick, easy, and guaranteed to make a lot of smiles? Pick up some cupcakes, cookies or donuts and tell everyone it’s just for fun!
However you celebrate Fun at Work Day, remember that you don’t have to limit the fun to just one day. Unexpected acts of kindness and goodwill are still some of the most reliable ways to create a memorable employee experience.
